September 2nd, 2009: Prof. Dr. Reto M. Hilty, Director, Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law, Germany visited Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) on an invitation from Prof. Xiang Yu, Director, Chinese-German Institute of Intellectual Property. He was employed as a Consulting Professor for the Chinese-German Institute of Intellectual Property. Xinyu Shao,Vice-Chancellor, HUST, issued the certificate of appointment to Prof. Hilty.
The ceremony was held in the Conference Room, School of Management and was presided by Lirong Long (Assistant to the Dean). Participants attending the ceremony included Shao Xinyu (Vice-Chancellor) , Li Hao (Head of International Exchange Office), Zhang Jinlong (Dean, School of Management), teachers and students.
As the Director of Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law, Prof. Hilty has made intensive researches and the Max Planck Institute is considered as a premier research center in the field of international IP.
Vice-Chancellor Shao warmly welcomed Prof. Hiltys visit to the Management school and appreciated his outstanding achievements in the field of intellectual property. Vice-Chancellor Shao said that Max Planck institute and other German research institutes had a good foundation for cooperation with our school, and the two sides had exchanged visiting scholars frequently. Professor Hilty also expressed his optimism and interest towards Chinas long-term development in the field of intellectual property.
Lirong Long gave a brief introduction of the development and future planning of the School of Management, after which Li Hao introduced the exchange and cooperation history between our school and Germany.
After the engagement ceremony, the two sides took a photograph and exchanged the memorial gifts with Professor Hilty.
