On 7th April 2017, at the invitation of Prof. Yu Xiang, Dr. Peter Ganea, who is the deputy director of Sino-German International Economic Law Institute, Tongji University, visited the Chinese-German Institute of Intellectual Property. Dr. Peter Ganea is the former head of East Asia Department, Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property of Germany. He delivered a speech entitled "Recent Developments in German Patent Law – with a view towards Sino-German innovation cooperation" in our school. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Yu Xiang.
Dr. Peter Ganea introduced the new changes of European patent system and the new background of Sino-German innovation and cooperation, which focuses on the latest development of German Patent Law and the new challenges of patent applications, litigation, invalid procedures, priority and software patents. The content of the speech kept up with the latest advance in academy and practice fields, and reflected the rapid development of intellectual property rights under the technological progress. In the end, students discussed the topic of the speech in depth with Dr. Peter Ganea.
The audience mainly came from the School of Management, School of Law, School of Economics and School of Public Administration. It also attracted some international students, which are from Germany and other countries or regions.
