Being employed as the Visiting Professor of the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), Prof. Xiang Yu was visiting UTS from May 1st to 23rd, 2012. During this period, Prof. Xiang Yu attended seminars with the professors from the Faculty of Law and the Business School of UTS and gave keynote academic reports on the topics of Patent Protection for Computer Software and Related Inventions of Business Method, Patent Rights Exhaustion and Paralleled Imports, Patent Data Mining and Information Analysis, and the Judgment of Patent Infringement. He also carried out academic exchange activities such as guiding doctoral students with Prof. Natalie Stoianoff who was in charge of the major of Intellectual Property in UTS.
During the visit in UTS, Prof. Xiang Yu made great efforts to promote building the research collaboration partnerships between the intellectual property teachers from HUST and UTS. He discussed the cooperation programs about Doctoral Students Exchange and Dual-degree Graduates with the dean of the Graduate School, the head of the School of Law and the professors of Intellectual Property. His effort promoted the teachers exchange visits and the course exchange plan between the two universities. It is on the calendar that Prof. Natalie Stoianoff would be invited to visit and give lectures in HUST in October.
In addition, Prof. Xiang Yu also promoted deep cooperation in multi-disciplinary fields between the two universities actively. He assisted the professors in the School of Environmental Science in HUST to build academic partnership with related professors in UTS and promoted the joint declaration of China-Australia Joint Information Physical Identification Technology Research Center positively.
