Prof. Xiang Yu was invited to participate in the discussion of the establishment of the TESLA Prize, which was organized by Global Round Table and supported by UNESCO in Croatia from July 11th to 16th. The TESLA Prize was named by the father of electromagnetism--NIKOLA TESLA who was born in Croatia. This Prize is treated as “Modern Nobel Prize”,which is to reward and commend the people who have made great contribution to the development of human society but didn’t get deserved approbation, aimed at stamulating inventors to make great efforts to the sustainable development of human beings. The representatives who were invited including outstanding scientists from different countries(including a Nobel Prize winner), the president of UNESCO conference and former politicians of several countries.
During the conference, Prof. Xiang Yu was responsible for drafting The Qualifications and Rules of Selection of the Award Committee Member and expressed his views on related issues of the establishment of this prize in the conference.
It is reported that the first presentation ceremony of the TESLA Prize will be held in 2013 which is the year of the 70th anniversary of the death of Mr. TESLA.
